Fort Garry

Fort Garry is home to many wonderful features that make this an excellent place to live. The area is home to the University of Manitoba campus and its new stadium that hosts popular teams like the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. This area is also home to the Twins hockey team, shared with the Fort Rouge area. Sports functions and other major events are relatively common in this part of town, and you won’t want to miss out on them!

Upper Fort Garry is also home to a number of historic sites, as it is home to a major former fur trade post. Today, not much of these locations remains except the front gate and plaques that were installed by the Manitoba Heritage Council.

Fort Garry boasts an abundance of popular cuisine among the most popular parts of town with dishes ranging from Korean-inspired fare to The Original Pancake House. Fort Garry is lively and exciting for everyone, young and old.

The services we offer can range from a few hours a week to full, 24×7 live in support.

Our family created Partners for Home, after our father was diagnosed with ALS in 2007. Since this time we have become experts in helping families understand and navigate through the options here in Manitoba for the highest possible Home Care experience.

Because of our how company works with the WRHA’s Self / Family Managed Home Care program, not only was our father able to remain in his home, but he continues to feel safe and remain a family contributor while maintaining his dignity. None of this would have been possible without this program. SFMC allows Manitoban’s through a private Agency to build a truly customized level of service specific to their individual needs. For our family, this meant our father could be helped out of bed at the time he wanted to be moved instead of waiting sometimes for hours for someone to arrive. Rather than having to deal with new people coming to our house almost every day, he could rely on the same Care Giver. This resulted in a less stressful environment for both our father and the Care Givers, as he no longer needs to retrain a new worker each and every day on how to move him. In addition, our father can have a shower as often as he wants, and is no longer limited to just one per week, which just was not enough. In addition, moving to the Self / Family Managed Home Care program, has enabled our family to develop meaningful relationships with the Care Givers that serve our family.

Personal care activities and responsibilities that are essential to everyday functioning are one of our primary tasks. We can help your loved one to eat, bathe, dress, groom themselves, and more. If there’s something that they need help with in order to function effectively in society, our support workers are available to help them accomplish it with dignity and respect to their preferences and privacy.

At other times, Partners for Home may offer help with basic home management and housekeeping tasks to make the home a safer place to live. The specific chores we help with will vary based on the client’s need but could include laundry, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and any type of light cleaning.

We may spend a lot of time focusing on how we can help the client on a day-to-day basis, but they aren’t the only important person we consider. Primary caregivers often fall by the wayside with other companies who don’t have time to dedicate to an entire family. At Partners for Home, we want to provide respite for the primary caregiver who can be overwhelmed and exhausted.

By offering our support, caregivers can get a break from the routine to rest and recharge. You won’t have to worry while your loved one is in our professional and experienced care. While we work, you can take some time to stroll along the college campus or enjoy a cup of hot coffee. This allows you to continue to function well and helps to maintain the integrity and strength of the entire family unit.

Success between our caregivers and clients can frequently be influenced by the presence or absence of compatibility between the participants and we do not leave that factor to chance. Partners for Home leverages Insights Discovery, a world-class psychometric methodology which highlights an individual’s own strengths and weaknesses, communication style, approach to problems and value to a team. Insights Discovery is built to help people understand themselves, understand others and make the most of relationships that affect them.  This system has high value to our Clients and to all of our Home Care Partners.

Partners for Home can help with a number of conditions. We help older adults who are struggling with the aging process, people with disabilities or mental health issues, and those recovering from medical procedures. Those who need rehabilitation or suffer from complex medical conditions also fall under our expertise. Children (including mothers and newborns) may also need care due to their own disability or that of a parent.

Allow us to help you remain at home with dignity. We can partner with you to create a flexible and high-quality plan to meet your needs. We can help for as few as three hours each week all the way to providing full 24-hour on-site care.
