West Saint Paul

Partners for Home is committed to helping our clients stay home whenever possible with our flexible and customizable Home Care program. Particularly for residents of the West Saint Paul area, there are so many advantages to remaining a part of the community instead of shifting to an assisted living facility. The community support and recreational opportunities in this rural municipality are abundant, so why wouldn’t you want to take advantage of these?

West Saint Paul is home to the Sunova Centre, a large recreational facility filled with opportunities for all ages to learn something new. You can experiment with craft sessions, yoga classes, or a spirit-filled Zumba class designed specifically for individuals 55 years or older. They also hold events for organizations and groups such as the Winnipeg Philatelic Society and the Military Collectors Club of Canada.

If organized recreation isn’t your preference, you could opt for an afternoon in one of West Saint Paul’s numerous parks. Riverdale Park has an extensive list of amenities and beautiful grounds to enjoy a picnic lunch or an ambling walk. You can find a number of trails that trace throughout the rural municipality with a network that reaches almost ten kilometers in length.

The services we offer can range from a few hours a week to full, 24×7 live in support.

Our family created Partners for Home, after our father was diagnosed with ALS in 2007. Since this time we have become experts in helping families understand and navigate through the options here in Manitoba for the highest possible Home Care experience.

Because of our how company works with the WRHA’s Self / Family Managed Home Care program, not only was our father able to remain in his home, but he continues to feel safe and remain a family contributor while maintaining his dignity. None of this would have been possible without this program. SFMC allows Manitoban’s through a private Agency to build a truly customized level of service specific to their individual needs. For our family, this meant our father could be helped out of bed at the time he wanted to be moved instead of waiting sometimes for hours for someone to arrive. Rather than having to deal with new people coming to our house almost every day, he could rely on the same Care Giver. This resulted in a less stressful environment for both our father and the Care Givers, as he no longer needs to retrain a new worker each and every day on how to move him. In addition, our father can have a shower as often as he wants, and is no longer limited to just one per week, which just was not enough. In addition, moving to the Self / Family Managed Home Care program, has enabled our family to develop meaningful relationships with the Care Givers that serve our family.

Success between our caregivers and clients can frequently be influenced by the presence or absence of compatibility between the participants and we do not leave that factor to chance. Partners for Home leverages Insights Discovery, a world-class psychometric methodology which highlights an individual’s own strengths and weaknesses, communication style, approach to problems and value to a team. Insights Discovery is built to help people understand themselves, understand others and make the most of relationships that affect them.  This system has high value to our Clients and to all of our Home Care Partners.

Your Care Partner will be responsible for helping you with any service you require including social support. They can help you to maximize your opportunities for recreational activities and maintaining connections to friends or family members. This allows you to remain an active part of the West Saint Paul community and gives you something to continue looking forward to.

They also provide more traditional services such as help with personal care activities and house management. You can rest assured that your Care Partner can help to get you ready each day with as much safety and physical comfort as possible. With deference to your preferences, they strive to give you as much independence, dignity, and privacy as possible during these situations.

They may also help to pick up around the house to keep it a safe environment for living. Laundry, grocery shopping, on-site meal preparation, and other routine tasks may be a part of your service plan with Partners for Home.

We highly value the relationships we form with the primary caregivers in the family. This job can often be exhausting and require a great deal of work each day. We strive to offer family support and respite whenever possible so that you can restore a sense of balance to your life. While you take a break from the task of caring for your loved one, you will still know that they are in good hands with us.
